PETALING JAYA: U for Life Sdn Bhd has raised the bar for the insurance industry by allowing Malaysians to apply for an insurance policy at local pharmacies.
Through a strategic partnership with Berjaya Pharmacy Sdn Bhd, U for Life becomes the first digital insurance platform in the country to leverage the pharmacy network across Malaysia as a natural distribution point in ensuring all Malaysians are insured.
“Despite the economic downturn, consumer health in Malaysia has sustained steady growth. This however contradicts with the fact that 55% of the country’s population is not insured with the main reason being affordability.
“Hence, the partnership we have will combat this perception - by offering an insurance policy as low as RM9.85 per month for protection of up to RM100,000,” U for Life general manager Kenny Thing said in a press statement.
Thing revealed that the partnership will now begin at some four Tigas Alliance pharmacies - Tigas Alliance Tesco Bangi, Tigas Alliance Tesco Kepong, Tigas Tesco Lukut in Port Dickson and Tigas Alliance TTDI.
He hopes that by mid-year, they would have reached a total of 19 Tigas Alliance pharmacies strategically located in the Klang Valley, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah and Sabah.
Stationed at participating Tigas Alliance pharmacies, digital ambassadors who are U for Life’s on-ground crew are present to attend to all U for Life’s e-policy enquiries.
“Customers who sign up for the e-policy at the participating pharmacies will receive goody bags worth up to RM250 while the first 50 existing U for Life’s e-policy holder customers are also entitled to a free glucose test, available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“For every successful referral, U for Life rewards its customers with a free Starbucks card or vouchers,” Thing said.
