LactoGG in Johor Bahru - Your antidote to Allergies, Eczema and so much more!

LactoGG is the world’s most-researched, premier probiotic strain with nearly 700 scientific papers and nearly 200 clinical trials supporting its claims to its health benefits.
LactoGG is a probiotic. It is a special, unique good bacterium, which has been proven to promote health in the human being.
The scientific name for LactoGG's probiotic strain is Lactobacillus rhamnosus strain GG (ATCC53103) or " Lactobacillus GG" for short. LactoGG is the original, specific probiotic strain isolated by two Boston scientists , Prof. Sherwood L. Gorbach and Dr. Barry Goldin, in 1985, from the intestinal tract of a healthy human subject. Its ''GG'' identity is named after its two discovers.
LactoGG is a vegetable capsule containing 20 billion live ''GG'' bacteria and inulin, a vegetable fibre which acts as the food for the live bacteria. It does not contain yeast, sodium, preservatives, artificial food coloring, artificial flavoring, sweeteners or sugar. Its contents are all NATURAL.
LACTOGG® is pronounced as “lac-toh-G-G".

Contents of Each Capsule

At the point of manufacture, the factory in USA loads each capsule with 50 billion cfu (colony-forming units) of LIVE Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, so that their guarantee of 20 billion cfu of LIVE Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in each capsule will be fulfilled, even if it reaches our hands 2 years later! This also means that even if we bring our LactoGG all around our tropical island in our warm weather, it will still last for 2 months, and we will still be able to enjoy a minimum of 20 billion cfu of LIVE Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in each capsule.
Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (ATCC 53103) probiotic strain 20 billion CFU, inulin 240 mg, as stated in MIMS, the compendium of supplements and medicines for doctors.
LactoGG is casein-free. This means that LactoGG does NOT contain any trace of cow milk protein. It contains a highly purified pharmaceutical grade of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, and its probiotic identification number is ATC 53103. This means that LactoGG can be safely consumed by anyone with known cow milk allergy and in fact, has been medically studied and proven to help those with milk allergy so they are less allergic.
LactoGG works by modulating the immune system in allergy, such as in atopic eczema, which affects too many babies and children these days especially in our modern, civilised society. LactoGG should be consumed over at least 6-8 weeks, and you will notice fewer and less frequent exacerbations or eczema flares, and less need for medical intervention.
However, this site does not replace your doctor's consultation and does not offer any medical advice.

To Ensure You Enjoy the Maximum Benefits While Taking Probiotics

To see results and enjoy all the many many health benefits of LactoGG, you will need to ensure the following criteria are ALL fulfilled.
  1. You are taking this particular strain of Lactobacillus.
    • Other strains of probiotic may be good for health, and would help relieve conditions such as diarhhoea or constipation, but
    • Will not have the same functions and benefits as this particular strain, the Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG

  2. You are taking good bacteria that are ALIVE at the point of consumption.
    • If the Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG bacteria is already DEAD when it is consumed, it will not give you the benefits as stated by the World Health Organisation and the independent, now more than 800 clinical studies done on the benefits of LactoGG.
    • This is why the factory loads 50 billion cfu of LIVE Lacto GG at the point of manufacture, so there is at least 20 billion cfu ALIVE in each capsule when we take it.
    • This is why Grace repeats again: Take good care of your friendly bacteria and let them sleep in a nice cold refrigerator!

  3. You are taking an adequate dosage of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG.
    • Taking freshly made yoghurt, Vitagen or Yakult will not give you as much health benefits because there aren't that many LIVE cfu of bacteria in the product. (Plus, there is so much sugar in Vitagen and Yakult that you'll probably
    • Of course, we don't know what strains of good bacteria are in the food as well.

Good Storage Practices to Ensure the Longevity of Your Bacteria Friends

Be sure to store your stash of LactoGG below 23 degrees Celcius.
  • In the Fridge
If they are kept in the refrigerator, they can last for 2 years or even more. This means that they are still ALIVE when you consume them because all the LIVE colony-forming units of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG will go into hibernation in the cold temperatures of the fridge, and then this same amount will be still alive and well, when you remove them from the fridge years later.

  • In our Handbags as we Waltz around Outdoors in Tropical Singapore
If, like Grace, you need to bring them out wherever you go, in your handbag, in the tropical sweltering heat of hot and humid Singapore, then do note that they still are able to stay alive for 2 months. (Grace needs to have an ever-ready supply in her bag so Percy can take one 15 minutes before he eats his forbidden foods that he is allergic to, like milk-based products, seafood, etc.)

Recommended Dosages

We always refer to the LactoGG Monograph for this, as it states that clinical research shows that for LactoGG to present results in eczema sufferers, 10 - 80 billion cfu of LIVE Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG bacteria should be ingested daily, and this dosage is the same for all infants to adults, as long as this is a person battling eczema.
Therefore, we recommend taking 2 capsules of LactoGG daily for eczema warriors as there are about 40 billion cfu of bacteria still alive when we receive our stock from the local Singapore LactoGG distributor, and we refrigerate all our LactoGG stock once we receive them, keeping the figure of LIVE bacteria constant once we receive them, to prevent any more precious bacteria from dying when stored in a non-refrigerated environment.

How to Give LactoGG to Babies

This is Grace's recommendation as I deal with my own little boy Percy, and have now met hundreds of mommies with young babies who have been giving LactoGG to their little ones from the time they are infants, in the course of my work with the Eczema Support Group.
I DO NOT recommend pouring the contents of the capsule into a milk bottle and then feeding the milk to a baby as much is wasted, clinging onto the sides of the milk bottle even after baby finishes his milk.

For babies younger than 6 months old:

Instead, I usually advise mommies to open the capsule, pour a little of the contents of the capsule out onto a spoon that is semi-filled with either breast milk or baby's milk / water / juice. Then, mix the contents of the LactoGG capsule into the liquid on your spoon, and then spoon-feed your baby. Do this until Baby finishes all the contents of the capsule.

For babies / children older than 6 months old:

Mommies can open the capsule and pour a little of the contents of the capsule at a time onto Baby's tongue. Once Baby tastes the powdery contents of the LactoGG capsule, he will open his mouth and ask for more. How does it taste like? It's yummy :) and tastes like what all Singaporeans know: Horlicks, or, a cereal-biscuit mix :) There is no added sugar at all, and so we are totally happy feeding LactoGG to babies, unlike many other probiotic products which have a fair bit of sugar mixed in.

For older children and adults:

My boys and the rest of us adults in my family simply chew our LactoGG capsules whole, and swallow them. :) They're yummy!

LactoGG's "Side Effects" Explained
Interestingly, when one experiences effects other than what we hope to see, it actually means that the good bacteria are working in our intestinal tract! Here are the most common side effects:
  • Loose stools / Diarrhoea
  • Gas
  • Bloating
  • Cramps
  • Rashes
  • Acne
If we experience any of the above the adverse effects, and they are relatively minor and do not persist for more than 14 days, then we should be celebrating these side effects! Temporary reactions such as minor bloating or a mild laxative or constipating effect are signs that the beneficial bacteria are remodeling, detoxifying and improving the gut environment

3 Ways To Reduce The "Side Effects" Of Probiotics

  1. Decrease the dosage
    1. One possible way to reduce the side effects is to reduce the dosage. If you were taking two probiotic pills daily, try taking only one probiotic pill per day. As your body becomes accustomed to the lower dosage, then you can increase the dosage to higher levels. But taking too many probiotic CFUs too quickly may result in probiotic overdose.

  2. Stay hydrated
    1. Water should help with all the side effects. This is because if you examine the list of side effects:
      1. Loose stools / Diarrhoea
      2. Gas
      3. Bloating
      4. Cramps
      5. Rashes
      6. Acne
    2. All of these side effects are ways your body detoxifies, or are signs that your body is having trouble detoxifying. And water is the ultimate detoxification agent. So to help you body detox, stay hydrated!

  3. Give your body time to adjust
    1. Taking probiotics can kill tons of bad bacterium, replacing them with the good. This can be quite a shock to our body! So give it at least two weeks of feeling the side effects. At that point it makes sense to seek medical attention.

  2. According to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health research, men aged 70 and older are the most vulnerable group when it comes to experiencing frequent erection problems. Only five percent of the men aged 20 to 40 have to deal with ED.

Researchers also found out that nearly 50 percent of the men who participated in the study and suffered from diabetes also experienced ED, making diabetes another common risk factor.
